As of this review (9/3/09) he's still a holdout! I would anticipate a slow start but then a pretty good second half for a rookie. I would take Crabtree as a back-up in Round 15. However, recent ADP has him going in Round 11, and that's too early for my taste. Definitely try to get him cheap if you can in keeper leagues, as he could be in pretty good shape as the 49ers #1 target in 2010. 35-420-3.
Positives / Upside Crabtree is an elite talent, but he's just a rookie. He should eventually be especially good in PPR leagues. The 49ers have a really nice passing schedule during the fantasy stretch run (@SEA, ARI, @PHI, DET in weeks 13-16).
Negatives / Downside He'll have to compete with Isaac Bruce, Josh Morgan, and Jason Hill for targets. It's a run-first offense, though they will likely play from behind often anyway.
Recommendation Only in a keeper league
Draft Position 232

Crabtree starting in Week 7
written by DaveGawron, October 22, 2009
Crabtree is quite a talent, but he's in a bad situation. He missed so much time, he barely knows the offense. The offense itself isn't very friendly to wide receivers in the first place, and Shaun hill isnt talented enough to change that. Still, Crabtree should be picked up and stashed in hope of value down the line, but don't drop anybody useful for him.

Crabtree still a holdout
written by DaveGawron, September 03, 2009
At first, the thought from 49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco was that Crabtree was close to signing, with a deal likely to get done by labor day. ESPN writer Adam Schefter recently Tweeted that "Anyone waiting for Michael Crabtree to sign with San Francisco could be waiting a long time. A real long time." Until he actually signs, we're bumping up Josh Morgan's value and dropping Crabtree way down, only expecting possible second-half production with a definite slow start.
