Cooley looking to score more in 09

Cooley plays fantasy football, and he made some very entertaining videos about it before last season that you should still be able to catch on YouTube. On the field, he set career highs in catches and yards in 2008, but after catching six, seven, six, and eight touchdowns from 2004-2007, he only caught one last year. Cooley becomes a good value pick if you could take him in the eighth round of your fantasy draft, especially if he can find the end zone more this year. (It’s probably about where he’ll take himself in his draft.) 75-800-5.
Positives / Upside He is a very durable tight end, not having missed a game since his rookie season, and he was pretty consistent in receptions, yards, and touchdowns (until last year). He’s a fairly safe bet for a tight end, and he may come at a discount after his low 2008 touchdown total. He is clearly the second option in the passing game behind Santana Moss, and Jim Zorn runs a good offense in which he can definitely succeed. If Jason Campbell can improve a little, it could really help Cooley’s stats.
Negatives / Downside The defense could be much-improved with Albert Haynesworth in town, perhaps leading to more runs and less passes on offense in lower-scoring games, but that shouldn't affect Cooley much.
Recommendation Buy at cost
Draft Position 80

Cooley on IR
written by DaveGawron, December 01, 2009
Chris Cooley (ankle) has officially been placed on Injured Reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2009 season. He will return as the Redskins #1 TE in 2010 and will likely be one of the weaker Top Ten fantasy tight ends (unless Washington can upgrade their offense somehow, in which case his value could rise a little).
