After back-to-back 1200+ yard rushing seasons, Westbrook regressed to 936 rushing yards in 2008, but he scored a career high nine rushing touchdowns. He is one of the most prolific pass-catching backs of all time, having caught 401 passes over his seven-year career. He did have his fewest receptions since 2003 and lowest yards-per-catch average (7.6) ever last year. If you draft Westbrook, you have to burn a mid-round pick LeSean McCoy. Considering the risk recovering from knee and ankle surgery, though, Westbrook would have to drop pretty far (late second, early third) in order for me to take him. 190-850-6-45-380-4 in 13 games.
Positives / Upside Correll Buckhalter had been the Eagles’ insurance plan, but he could never really stay healthy either. They brought in Lorenzo Booker last year, but he was also not the answer. So, they selected LeSean McCoy in the 2009 NFL Draft, hoping that they finally have a true second back to couple with Westbrook and perhaps save him some wear and tear, thus maximizing his production. Maybe a reduced workload will help. 220-980-7-50-410-5 in 15 games.
Negatives / Downside The first word you think of concerning Westbrook is injury. Though he tends to pretty much play complete seasons, he always misses a game here and there, and he’s almost always banged up. He's coming off two surgeries and could end up playing with diminished ability or missing significant time. 150-600-3-35-280-3 in 10 games.

Westbrook should play in Week 16
written by DaveGawron, December 21, 2009
Westbrook should return to action in Week 16, but he probably won't get enough touches to make a fantasy impact. You have to assume that he'll play just enough in Weeks 16 & 17 to get back into the flow for the playoffs but not be the featured back. You'll probably have to devalue McCoy and Weaver a bit, though.

Westbrook out for Week 14
written by DaveGawron, December 13, 2009
Westbrook will not play in Week 14. He may not make it back in the regular season. Look for McCoy and Weaver to split the load again this week. Both are shaky fantasy FLEX options due to the time-share.

Westbrook will play in Week 10
written by DaveGawron, November 13, 2009
Westbrook made it through practice on Thursday and is expected to split carries with LeSean McCoy in San Diego this Sunday afternoon. San Diego's run defense isn't the best, but both teams will likely pass more than run in this one. Westbrook and McCoy still have RB2/FLEX value in PPR leagues, but since they're splitting time, consider other options, too.

Westbrook probable for Week 9
written by DaveGawron, November 05, 2009
Westbrook practiced fully on Wednesday in his return from his concussion. He's expected to play in normal fashion this Sunday, making him a solid RB play in PPR leagues.

Westbrook day-to-day
written by DaveGawron, September 21, 2009
That didn't take long. Westbrook is day-to-day with a right ankle sprain suffered in Week 2. Even if he recovers fully in time for Week 3, expect more carries from LeSean McCoy, as the Eagles are sure to baby Westbrook with the talented rookie in tow.
