Draft him late as a handcuff to Willie Parker or even a bit earlier in keeper leagues, but otherwise, pass, as he may not ever be worth using in 09 at all. 100-430-4-10-50-0.
Positives / Upside Strong, good goal-line back. Touches could possibly increase as season wears on. Could be lead back in 2010, as Willie Parker's contract expires after this season (making Mendenhall a good keeper option). Good offensive line and defense to work with. Run-first team philosophy. Many easy rushing games on the 09 schedule (CIN & CLE twice plus DET, DEN, GB, KC, OAK).
Negatives / Downside Apparent #2 behind Willie Parker, who is also a decent goal-line back. Frank Summers, also a decent goal-line back, should steal some touchdowns, too. Not much of a pass-catcher. Oh, and Mewelde Moore is still a Steeler, as well. Baltimore defense could shut him down in fantasy championship Week 16.

Mendenhall will continue to roll in Week 5

Even if Willie Parker (turf toe) returns in Week 5, Mendenhall should still be able to slice and dice the Lions defense this week like he did last week with the Chargers defense. Add him in all leagues where you need a running back this week.
