Nice keeper league pick, but expect serious struggles in his rookie year and only consider him in the final rounds of deep seasonal leagues as a QB3 (or QB4 if your bench is that big). His upside lies in the fantasy stretch run, where after a half season of learning on the job in the NFL, he could start putting up really nice garbage-time numbers. 3000-18-15 (20-40-0).
Positives / Upside Detroit will undoubtedly throw often, always playing from behind. Calvin Johnson may often get double-teamed, but he's talented enough to overcome. Passing to an elite receiver makes it that much easier. Not a bad passing schedule at all for the Lions this year.
Negatives / Downside Getting a little hype, so will probably be drafted before he should. Daunte Culpepper would be happy to take his place if he slumps badly.
Recommendation Only at a discount
Draft Position 177

Stafford to start in Week 12
written by DaveGawron, November 26, 2009
He was thought to have been out for the game. However, he and Calvin Johnson will both start. The Lions should be playing from behind all game, so Stafford and Johnson could put up some numbers!
