Easy schedule makes Pats attractive

The Patriots defense obviously benefited from huge leads provided by their offense in 2007 and was not quite as good in 2008, as brutally witnessed by their awful day at home against the Dolphins in Week Three. They did recover somewhat after that, with some really nice individual games, like holding Arizona to seven points in Week Sixteen and shutting out Buffalo in Week Seventeen. The team was hurt by the loss of Asante Samuel, Eugene Wilson, and Randall Gay before the 2008 season and by injuries during the season. They did have the luxury of a fantastic rookie year from Jerod Mayo. If Brady can come back and provide crazy offense again in 2009, this defense could end up out-earning our preseason rank. Draft them in Round 12 or later. 195 points.
Positives / Upside Not particularly strong in any one aspect, but solid across the board. Wes Welker is a good punt returner. Their schedule is so good, they're just about the only team we'd recommend starting nearly every week.
Negatives / Downside Unit focuses on winning and often won't take risks. They will give up points and yards as long as they feel they can still securely win the game. Not the best kick returns.
Recommendation Buy at cost
Draft Position 145
