Look, Bonderman surely has his flaws. But the early reports have been encouraging, and few pitchers can offer the upside he does for the cost it will likely take to acquire him. This is a pitcher who was badly overworked from the onset of his major league career, but he's always had tremendous ability and a high ceiling. The opportunity cost of drafting him or bidding on him is low and well worth the risk. 12-0-4.20-1.32-150 in 170 IP

Positives / Upside	After missing much of the past two seasons due to injury, Bonderman is apparently healthy and ready to go in 2010. Prior to his injury, Bonderman had always been a bit of an underachiever, but his stuff was good enough that many anticipated a breakout; it's possible these last two years delayed rather than replaced this breakout. His arm has had an extended period of rest after being overworked as a youngster, and he's still the guy who struck out 202 batters in 2006.
Negatives / Downside	Many pitchers never regain their old stuff after major surgery, and Bonderman could be the latest such example. Even if he recovers well enough, he's never kept his ERA below 4.00 for an entire season, he's regularly struggled with his command, and he's been more hittable than a pitcher with his stuff should be. There's little reason to think a Bonderman coming off injury will be better.
