On Tuesday, February 2, 2010, RotoCommunity.com participated in a fantasy baseball mock draft (on Mock Draft Central) with the other industry experts listed below. Player position eligibility was provided by Mock Draft Central. We assumed standard 5x5 category roto scoring with 23 starters and no reserves (for the purposes of the mock). Here's how the draft went down round-by-round, with analysis following each round.
You can go here to read about Buck Davidson's analysis of the same draft. This was my first mock of the season.
First off before I do any draft I look over each position to see if any are deep or weak for draft options. Here is what I found:

You can go here to read about my first mock draft of the season last week. That one was a 12-teamer. Go here to read about my 15-teamer from Sunday. This is my third expert mock within the past couple weeks. Also, go here to read colleague Todd Nord's analysis of this same draft, but from the viewpoint of his strategy and picks, which differed from mine.

You can go here to read about my first mock draft of the season last week. That one was a 12-teamer, and this one is a 15-teamer. Obviously, the talent pool doesn't run as deep with three more teams in play, and a blown pick here can be extremely costly. My strategy in deep formats is pretty much in line with my tried-and-true draft philosophy:
- Load up on offense early, grabbing four and five category performers where possible.
- Bargain shop for starting pitchers, look for top-notch #2 and #3 rotation guys, with high-K hurlers given preference.
- Watch for "boring" veterans to fall too far.
- Keep positional scarcity in mind, and
- Don't overpay for saves.

Below, we help you set your line-up for (who to start or sit) for the upcoming week by looking at the Top 5 four-game schedules. Our Games-per-Week Schedule Grid is especially useful throughout the season, so make sure you download it, print it, and keep it by your side to consult for every decision you make. Personally, I like to take a blue highlighter and "blue out" the column for the current week each Tuesday as to easier see the good and bad stretches on the horizon.

Below, we explore what should happen in this week's NFL games. Of course, in the NFL, only half of what should happen actually does happen, but playing the percentages gives you the best chance of winning. Remember, think twice before benching a stud based on match-ups! We list the Vegas odds spread in parentheses and the Over/Under number in brackets.

TOP FIVE PLAYER NEWS BITS FROM THE PAST WEEK We tell you whether you should ADD, WATCH, IGNORE, or DROP the player based on the recent news and upcoming schedule. When you see something like 4-3-3-4 referring to the upcoming schedule, each number refers to games per week with the upcoming Monday as the starting point. A "shallow" league is 130 players deep. A "deep" league is 154 or more players deep.

Let's face it, if you're attending a Super Bowl party on Sunday, the majority of people there won't know a thing about football. I sit down every Sunday for twenty weeks and watch the games with the same group of 3-10 people. We get together because we like everything about football. We love to argue crazy things like the current stability of Al Davis' mind, why Mike Singletary may be the world's craziest person, or how Andy Reid ever played quarterback, and how does he actually fit all that weight into that small of a frame. But the Super Bowl is different. Everyone goes to a Super Bowl party because it's social convention. All will be there to make an appearance to show everyone that they're a "sports" guy/gal, but most people there fit into one of these seven categories.
1) The Diehards
Diehards are the guys who show up every Sunday just to remind you that picking Steve Slaton over Chris Johnson in your fantasy draft was stupider than the time you decided to bareback it in Tijuana. They were there to cheer against your team and against whatever way you thought a challenge should go. They can explain why press coverage works on small receivers and why tight ends are so effective over the middle.
