We tell you who to sit and who to start in setting your pitching line-ups each week. For the top pitchers for the week, we focus on questionable pitchers that may or may not normally start for you that have favorable schedules this week. We won't bother listing pitchers like Lincecum, Halladay, or Carpenter in this article, because you always start them, regardless of schedule. Likewise, we won't list lousy starters in the bottom section, because you'd obviously bench a pitcher Jason Marquis visiting Philadelphia without our having to tell you to do so. For the bottom pitchers, we focus on the average and better than average (but not star) pitchers that you would normally start with poor schedules this week.

Top Two-Start Starts (#1 being the best)
- John Danks (CHW) -- Mon-SEA (Hernandez), Sat-OAK (Sheets) - If you solely look at the W-L record, it has been a roller coaster ride. Lose 2, Win 3, Lose 2, Win 3. So that would make him lose the next two right? No, I think the trend will be broken and the winning streak extended as he faces a SEA team that he's beaten twice already (15 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 13 K) and an OAK squad that he's never lost to in five career starts (4-0, 1.62 ERA).
- Gavin Floyd (CHW) -- Tue-SEA (Rowland-Smith), Sun-OAK (Braden) - After giving up 6 ER in 2 2/3 IP against Texas on June 2nd, he's been on his game. Has allowed just 8 ER in his last 9 starts since. Gave up 0 ER to SEA in his last start (7 IP, 6 K) and like his fellow staff-mate, is undefeated vs. OAK lifetime (2-0, 1.33 ERA in four career starts).
- Brandon Morrow (TOR) -- Mon-BAL (Bergesen), Sun-CLE (TBD) - Is just 1-1 and has given up some runs against BAL and CLE in four starts combined, but he's been a K machine against them (30 K in 23 1/3 IP).
- Barry Zito (SF) -- Mon-FLA (Nolasco), Sat-LAD (Kershaw) - After getting past the 5th inning only twice in four starts, has gotten back on track in his last two (15 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 14 K). In four combined starts against these two teams this season, has given up just 6 ER in 27 2/3 IP.
- Joel Pineiro (LAA) -- Mon-BOS (Buchholz), Sun-TEX (Lewis) - After a nice eight start undefeated streak (7-0, 16 ER allowed), faltered against NYY in his last start, which happens to alot of pitchers when facing them. Has given up just 5 ER in 12 IP vs. both teams in '10.
Top One-Start Starts (#1 being the best)
- Tim Hudson (ATL) --Wed-@WAS (Hernandez) - After starting off the season 6-1, has struggled a little, getting a L then W in his last eight starts. Hasn't struggled at all vs. WAS this season, giving up only 2 ER in two starts (14 IP).
- C.J. Wilson (TEX) -- Thu-OAK (Cahill) - After a three-start span of 14 ER allowed, has recovered nicely, as he's not allowed more than 3 ER in his last ten starts (6-2). Has loved pitching at Rangers Ballpark this season (7-2, 3.17 ERA in 12 starts). One of those 12 starts was against OAK on May 13th (7 IP, 1 ER, 5 K).
- Hiroki Kuroda (LAD) -- Wed-@SD (Richard) - After a three-start losing streak (11 ER), got back on the winning track against the NYM in his last start (8 IP, 0 ER). Was 2-0 in two starts at Petco Park last season (11 IP, 4 ER).
- Madison Bumgarner (SF) -- Thu-FLA (Sanchez) - After going 0-2 in his first two starts (7 ER), has gone 4-0 since (4 ER). What's stands out about it is this streak has all been done on the road, which for a rookie, is impressive. Returns home this upcoming week against a FLA squad who's hitting under .220 Post All-Star break so far.
- Brett Myers (HOU) -- Tue-CHC (Lilly) - Has had a nice comeback season, which might be rewarded with getting acquired by a playoff-contending team. Has been solid against the CHC so far in '10 (13 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 14 K).
Top Set-Up Weeks (#1 being the best)
- Tim Stauffer (SD) -- (3 LAD, 3 FLA) - Not even appendicitis can affect him. After returning from a two-month stint on the DL, has picked up right where he left off, as he hasn't allowed an ER since heading into today (has allowed only 1 ER in 29 1/3 IP this season). Allowed only 2 ER combined against both teams last season (12 2/3 IP), two teams that have been struggling offensively Post All-Star break.
- Darren O'Day (TEX) -- (3 OAK, 3 @LAA) - Don't let the last name fool you. Since giving up 2 ER on June 1st, has been spotless as far as ER go, both day and night. Has been spotless against these two teams so far (7 appearances - 6 IP, 0 ER, 8 K).
- Koji Uehara (BAL) -- (3 @TOR, 4 @KAN) - After struggling as a starter last season, has adjusted well in a reliever's role in '10. Since making his season debut in early May, he's looked good, allowing 4 ER and striking out 17 in 14 1/3 IP in his first 14 appearances. Has had scoreless appearances vs. both teams so far.
Bottom Two-Start Starts (#1 being the worst)
- Carlos Silva (CHC) -- Mon-@HOU (Wright), Sun-@COL (De La Rosa) - After starting out the season surprisingly at 9-2, has fallen off the track in his last two starts, allowing 11 ER in his last two starts (2 1/3 IP). One of those starts was against HOU (5 ER in 1 IP). Has a career ERA and BAA of 5.40 and .400 respectively at Coors Field.
- Kevin Millwood (BAL) -- Tue-@TOR (Romero), Sun-@KAN (Chen) - Has struggled since finally getting his first tastes of victory in two consecutive starts in June. Since, is 0-1, giving up 15 ER. Will face a TOR team he's 0-2 against so far and a KAN squad that hits .290 at home.
- Zach Duke (PIT) -- Tue-@COL (De La Rosa), Sun-@STL (Garcia) - After a five-start losing streak, got back on the winning track in his last start against MIL. Has a 6.48 ERA and .338 BAA away from home, which isn't a good sign when your upcoming opponents love hitting at their own ballparks.
- Brad Bergesen (BAL) -- Mon-@TOR (Morrow), Sat-@KAN (Greinke) - After earning his third win on May 12th, hasn't won since. Two of his last six L are against the teams he's facing this upcoming week.
- Joe Blanton (PHI) -- Mon-COL (Hammel), Sat-@WAS (Atliano) - After a two-start winning streak, is 0-1 in his last five starts (19 ER), which isn't good prep for facing a strong offensive Rockies team. Is 0-2 with an 8.69 ERA in four career starts at Nationals Park.
Bottom One-Start Starts (#1 being the worst)
- Mike Pelfrey (NYM) -- Fri-ARI (Kennedy) - Had a very encouraging start against the LAD after going 0-3 in last four starts (21 ER). However, one of those four forgettable starts was against ARI (1 1/3 IP, 6 ER).
- Kevin Correia (SD) -- Thu-LAD (Padilla) - After going winless for over a month, has won his last two starts. Though, he's winless (0-2, 6.35 ERA) in two starts against LAD in '10.
- Derek Lowe (ATL) -- Thu-@WAS (Stammen) - After going winless for over a month, got back on the winning track on July 18th against MIL. WAS helped him stay winless during that streak on June 29th (5 2/3 IP, 4 ER).
- Doug Fister (SEA) -- Fri-@MIN (Slowey) - After starting out the season 3-1 with a 1.72 ERA, hasn't won in over two months (0-5, raising his ERA to 3.56). One of those L was against MIN on May 31st (7 2/3 IP, 5 ER).
- Tom Gorzelanny (CHC) -- Fri-@COL (Francis) - Has returned to starting rotation and has been solid since (4-0, 9 ER in five starts). However, like many other pitchers, has bad memories of Coors Field, with his most recent one in a dreadful start last season (1 1/3 IP, 6 ER).
Bottom Set-Up Weeks (#1 being the worst)
- Joba Chamberlain (NYY) -- (4 @CLE, 3 @TB) - The struggles have continued for him in the month of July. Has given up 6 ER in three combined appearances vs. both teams in '10.
- Todd Coffey (MIL) -- (3 CIN, 3 @HOU) - The summer hasn't been kind to him so far. It should stay unkind against two teams he's given up a combined 6 ER in 4 1/3 IP against so far in '10.
- Sean Burnett (WAS) -- (3 ATL, 3 PHI) - Has produced some Holds recently, but a couple L and a BS surrounds them. Has given up 3 ER and 7 H in 4 2/3 IP combined vs. his upcoming opponents so far in '10.
