We have many great articles planned leading up to the 2010 Fantasy Football season including sleepers, busts, rookies, strategy, full player rankings and projections all wrapped up into a nifty draft kit to help you win your league next year. Stay tuned for more, but for now, here's a team preview for you.

OFF-SEASON TRANSACTIONS

KEY ADDS

  • None

KEY SUBTRACTIONS

  • Green, Ahman (UFL-Omaha)

NOTE: This list could just as easily be left blank on both sides. The story of the Packers roster for fantasy purposes is how great a level of continuity there will be from 2009 to 2010. Aside from all-time franchise rushing leader turned honorary backup Ahman Green leaving town to scrum with Maurice Clarett for carries in Omaha, everyone is back.

THE BIG QUESTION

Is this the best team for fantasy purposes in the NFL?

The Packers stand with the Saints as perhaps the top two teams in the NFL for number of fantasy starters. Short of a second RB, if you could draft all the Packers starters at all the fantasy positions, you could make a credible argument that you would have a competitive team in a 12-team standard league starting all those players at the same time (yes, no one would actually try this except for a few brave superfans living north of Racine, and no, it is not a suggested strategy, but still...)

FANTASY DEPTH CHART

QB

  • Rogers, Aaron
  • Flynn, Matt

RB

  • Grant, Ryan
  • Jackson, Brandon
  • Kuhn, John

 WR

  • Jennings, Greg
  • Driver, Donald
  • Jones, James
  • Nelson, Jordy

 TE

  • Finley, Jermichael
  • Lee, Donald

NOTE: Greg Jennings was frequently drafted as a WR1 last year and felt like a disappointment for much of the year (mainly for the lack of TDs), though the final numbers look OK. He rewarded patient owners with two strong performances in fantasy playoff weeks and a good game for the Packers in the famous wild-card shootout in Arizona. With several wideouts competing for targets on the team, you can consider taking a flyer on James Jones... If you want reasons to be pessimistic about the team, consider the following: GB had both the most takeaways and the fewest giveaways in the NFL last year, a feat not accomplished since the 1997 New York Giants. Turnovers tend to not be consistent from one season to the next. If you believe at all in regression to the mean, you will want to think twice before overspending for a repeat from the defense. The 1998 Giants? Dropped to 19th in takeaways... Aaron Rogers paid off handsomely for those who were able to take him in the 4th or 5th round of fantasy drafts last season, becoming a consensus first-rounder this season. There are causes for concern in addition to the ridiculously low interception percentage Rogers posted. The Packer QB battled Ben Roethlisberger to a draw in the category of "most sacks taken" in 2009, and one would suspect that if he doesn't find a quicker release, taking such a beating will lead to missed time somewhere down the road. If there is an injury at QB or RB, Matt Flynn and Brandon Jackson are far from proven options, despite the other weapons surrounding them.
