NOTE: Aging vets whose effectiveness was clearly running out are replaced by a bevy of young offensive talent for the passing game. Muhammed retires as the all-time leading receiver in Panthers history, and will continue to be until this December, when Steve Smith is likely to pass him.
THE BIG QUESTION
Will a new QB make the difference?
The Panthers are perennial preseason contenders who seem to have two outcomes: playoffs or .500 club. In the past eight years, five have ended in a 7 or 8 win season, the other three have resulted in playoff appearances. The Panthers yet again enjoyed a great running offense with the explosive DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart going for over 1000 yards each. Steve Smith had just short of 1000 yards receiving. Jake Delhomme, run out of town after the year where he posted a 59.4 QB rating, was the scapegoat for the team's failure to keep up with Atlanta and New Orleans. Matt Moore stepped in late in the year and threw for as many TDs (8) while tossing only 2 picks (vs. Delhomme's 18). As a reward, Moore gets a one year deal and a chance to show he is an adequate NFL QB with a pretty good offense around him. If one of the rookie WRs clicks, Moore may keep Jimmy Clausen on the bench for at least one year. Injury rumblings on the offensive line and a stacked NFC South may complicate matters, but don't be shocked if the unheralded Moore starts a game in the second weekend of January.
ALSO
Is Jonathan Stewart healthy?
If you knew that only one of Stewart or Williams would be healthy for the entire season, and the other of the two would not play all year, would you draft the healthy RB in the top 5 of your draft? I would. Continue to watch Stewart to see how his foot is holding up, and value the Panther RBs accordingly.

NOTE: King is the listed starter at TE, but Rosario is the better receiver... Jarrett is spoiling to be replaced at one wide-out position by one of the rookies... John Kasey is a steady kicker with fantasy value.
