OFF-SEASON TRANSACTIONS

KEY ADDS

  • Rackers, Neil (ARI)
  • Leinart, Matt (ARI)
  • Ward, Derrick (TB)
  • Tate, Ben (rookie)

KEY SUBTRACTIONS

  • Brown, Kris

NOTE: There were no substantial fantasy adds/subtractions for the Texans. Unfortunately, Tate is out for the year. Houston's roster is about the same as it was last season.

THE BIG QUESTION

Will this team ever get to the playoffs and make any noise once they get there?

The short answer is "not yet." The defense just isn't ready to contain teams like New England, San Diego, or Indianapolis in the playoffs. However, they are young and improving, so maybe 2012 will be their year. The offense had some problems with the running game last season but was a productive unit overall, thanks to the prodigious passing of Matt Schaub. Arian Foster will be the lead back this year, and he should do pretty well in this offense. Slaton will just be a change-of-pace back. The big area of interest would be the target distribution beyond Andre Johnson. Owen Daniels returns from injury, and despite a likely slow start, he should end up being the secondary target and is well worth grabbing in Round 10. The consensus is that Jacoby Jones is more talented, but Kevin Walter just seems to get it done, so they'll likely cancel each other out for the most part.
