NOTE: Adding Marshall gives Miami a premier target they haven't had in years. Lost a little bit in their return attack with the trade of Ginn Jr..
THE BIG QUESTION
What will the effects be with the acquisition of WR Brandon Marshall?
No disrespect to Davone Bess, but the addition of Marshall will give Henne a true #1 target in his second full season. Bess has evolved in his first two seasons, from 54-554 to 76-758. Having a big, attention-grabbing guy in Marshall can only help Bess evolve more and help him become a better fantasy option. Also, with the loss of Ginn Jr., Bess becomes more attractive, as he's slated to be the majority kick/punt returner. Add to the fact that Brian Hartline had a good rookie season (31-506), Henne can easily go from a middle-tier QB who threw for 2,878 yards and 12 TD in '09 to a second-tier who can throw for over 3,500 yards and 18 TD. And we can't talk about the Dolphins offense without mentioning thier signature "Wildcat" formation, which has been so beneficial the first two seasons. Adding an offensive threat in Marshall should only help RBs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams maintain their fantasy threat status. This might negatively affect Marshall, who's caught over 100 balls for over 1,100 yards the last three seasons. Don't expect a fourth consecutive season, as I see a 80-1000 '10 statline for the new Marshall of South Beach.
ALSO
The Dolphins did get an upgrade in their WR core, but at the same time, lost a WR in Ted Ginn Jr.. He's a solid #3/4 WR, but his main strength is as a returner, and has evolved as one of the best after just three seasons, finishing in the top 5 with 1,296 kickoff return yards last season. Bess and RB Patrick Cobbs look to be the top 2 options in the return game. Both have had some experience in the return game, but aren't the same type of threat that Ginn Jr. is.
Undrafted K Dan Carpenter has been a pleasant surprise in his first two season, as he's made 46 of 53 (86.8) FGs. There might be lesser attempts with the addition of the TD-threat Marshall, but owners should still consider Carpenter as a solid option.

NOTE: The starting QB position is settled. The RB rotation is dynamic and attractive. Look for the secondary WRs to benefit the most from the addition of their new premier #1.
