By looking at our RotoCommunity Expert League bids, we can help you with your waiver wire considerations. Here are the leagues we're using as points of analysis (both weekly transactions, TC $1000 FAAB budget, U $100 FAAB budget):
- RotoCommunity.com's Triple Crown 12-team standard Roto AL-only League (TC)
- RotoCommunity.com's Ultimate AL Challenge 10-team h2h points League (U)

Scherzer, Max SP DET ($225 TC, - drop Redmond, Mike C CLE)
Scherzer hasn’t been called back up yet, but he posted a second straight impressive start this past week. Scherzer went seven innings, allowing just three hits and one run, while striking out seven. Scherzer was pretty horrendous in his eight big league starts before being sent down, but is a great pickup if he was dropped in your league. It looks like he is getting things figured out in the minors, and there is no questioning his ability and potential.
Ohman, Will RP BAL ($80 TC, - drop Harris, Brendan 3B MIN and $60 U, - drop Frasor, Jason RP TOR)
Ohman gets the next shot to close for the Orioles. I am pretty sure that if he falters, I am next in line for saves. I couldn’t be worse than anyone else they’ve tried. In terms of Ohman, he has pitched 15.2 scoreless innings and collected 17 strikeouts this season. Ohman has never closed at the big league level before, and has been inconsistent throughout his seven year big league career. Ohman is worth a pickup in AL only leagues in case he remains effective enough to keep the job. He has as good a shot as anyone else they’ve tried of doing so. Leave me on the waiver wire for now.
Miranda, Juan ($22 TC, - drop Gross, Gabe OF TB)
With the Yankees playing in National League parks, Juan Miranda wasn’t used much over the past weekend. However, with the need for a designated hitter back in place and the Yanks still battling injuries, Miranda is in line for more at bats in the coming weeks. Miranda boasts a solid bat and has decent short term value in AL only leagues. If you need someone to fill a spot in your lineup over the next couple weeks, you could do a lot worse than Miranda.
ALSO
It was a quiet week on the waiver wire for the most part in both leagues. Joaquin Benoit and Dan Wheeler were added, but both are nothing more than solid relievers. Erik Bedard and Ian Snell were also added after recently being dropped in their respective leagues. Bedard could pay off if you can afford the spot on your reserve squad and if he ever gets healthy (big if). Also added were Josh Wilson, Joaquin Arias, Jeremy Reed, and Alexi Casilla. None are an overly exciting addition. They each qualify more as filler than anything else.
