TOP FIVE PLAYER NEWS BITS FROM THE PAST WEEKWe tell you whether you should ADD, WATCH, IGNORE, or DROP the player based on the recent news and upcoming schedule. When you see something like 4-3-3-4 referring to the upcoming schedule, each number refers to games per week with the upcoming Monday as the starting point. A "shallow" league is 130 players deep. A "deep" league is 154 or more players deep.
5. Collison, Darren PG NO
If you were wishy-washy about using him with Chris Paul back, you can relax now. Paul has been shut down for the year, so definitely use Collison for all of the remaining games. Marcus Thornton is also a strong start in all leagues with Paul out again.
4. Bosh, Chris PF TOR
We don't know anything for sure yet, but Bosh's injury could mean that he's played his last regular-season game this year. That would mean additional scoring opportunities for Sonny Weems and Antoine Wright, making them usable in deep leagues while Bosh is out.
3. Hickson, J.J. PF CLE
Despite the return of Varejao, start Hickson in shallow leagues over the season's final games. With LeBron, Jamison, and Z all likely to rest here and there, Hickson should continue to get minutes and scoring opportunities to go with his steady rebounds.
2. Milicic, Darko C/PF MIN
He is amazingly still playing well, posting a 16-7-4 PTS-REB-AST line Wednesday night. Also supplying steals and blocks, plug him in for the final games of the season.
1. Barron, Earl C NY
Don't bet the house on him, but after 17-18 and 15-9 PTS-REB lines on Tuesday and Wednesday, it's time to plug him in where you need rebounds in a deep league. Bill Walker is also playing well for NY, so use him if you want some more small forward-type numbers.
ALSO
Need threes down the stretch? Try Dorell Wright SF MIA. He has averaged 2.8 3PM per game in his last four... In leagues with daily line-up moves, beware of DNPs for the Cavs. The first wave may occur Friday night... Wizards Shaun Livingston and JaVale McGee continue to be worthwhile in deep leagues. Use Livingston for assists and McGere for rebounds and blocks down the stretch if you need them... Kurt Thomas MIL, DeAndre Jordan LAC, and Hasheem Thabeet MEM are three more low-end centers that can help with rebounding and blocks down the stretch.
