On Tuesday, March 30, 2010, RotoCommunity.com hosted the Mic Wars fantasy baseball league snake draft with the other podcasters listed below. Player position eligibility was provided by ESPN. We'll play a standard 5x5 category roto h2h (one point per category per week) scoring system with weekly line-ups and weekly NFBC-style FAAB. We're using the ESPN league manager, so you can see all the rosters, standings, transactions and follow the league through the year by CLICKING HERE. The league has 12 teams and is set-up like this: C (2), 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, OF (5), UTIL, P (9), 7 bench spots.

Strategy

Our idea going in was to win 6 or 7 categories each week. On offense, we would get good power from our corner spots, targeting players like Reynolds, Dunn, Carlos Pena, and Chris Davis. In the infield, we wanted one speed guy like Alcides Escobar or Everth Cabrera at SS and a power player like Aaron Hill or Uggla at 2B. We wanted two catchers that could hit 20 HR each. Our outfield was to be loaded with 20/20 and 15/15 types, targeting Granderson and Werth early and Chris Young late.

On the pitching side, we wanted to win the ERA and WHIP ratios and draft three closers to nail down saves each week, dumping W and K. With the 5 start per week minimum, we planned to stream three 2-start SPs each week, use our three closers, and three MRs for the other spots.

Round: 1

(1) Arizona FB Tonight - Albert Pujols 1B
(2) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Hanley Ramirez SS
(3) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Alex Rodriguez 3B
(4) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Ryan Braun LF
(5) Texas Johnny Archive - Prince Fielder 1B
(6) Chicago Fighting Chance - Chase Utley 2B
** (7) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Matt Kemp CF
(8) Houston Baseball Paul - Evan Longoria 3B
(9) Seattle FB with Andrea - Justin Upton RF
(10) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Carl Crawford LF
(11) New York The Fantasy Man - Ryan Howard 1B
(12) New York RotoRadio Edge - Miguel Cabrera 1B

Kemp gives us a great start on 4-category outfielders. It was interesting seeing Justin Upton go so early.

Round: 2
(13) New York RotoRadio Edge - David Wright 3B
(14) New York The Fantasy Man - Mark Teixeira 1B
(15) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Matt Holliday LF
(16) Seattle FB with Andrea - Joe Mauer C
(17) Houston Baseball Paul - Troy Tulowitzki SS
** (18) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Tim Lincecum SP
(19) Chicago Fighting Chance - Jose Reyes SS
(20) Texas Johnny Archive - Ian Kinsler 2B
(21) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Jacoby Ellsbury CF
(22) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Jimmy Rollins SS
(23) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Roy Halladay SP
(24) Arizona FB Tonight - Grady Sizemore CF

At #18, we couldn't pass on Lincecum. He gives us elite ERA/WHIP and actually gives us the option of continuing to pursue K. Otherwise, we could have considered Kinsler or Sizemore for their power/speed combo.

Round: 3
(25) Arizona FB Tonight - Mark Reynolds 3B
(26) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Ryan Zimmerman 3B
(27) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Felix Hernandez SP
(28) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Pablo Sandoval 3B
(29) Texas Johnny Archive - Robinson Cano 2B
(30) Chicago Fighting Chance - Adrian Gonzalez 1B
** (31) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Kevin Youkilis 3B
(32) Houston Baseball Paul - Joey Votto 1B
(33) Seattle FB with Andrea - Brandon Phillips 2B
(34) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Zack Greinke SP
(35) New York The Fantasy Man - Derek Jeter SS
(36) New York RotoRadio Edge - Dustin Pedroia 2B

The 3B position drops off after the Reynolds, Zimmerman, Sandoval, Youk run, so we grabbed the last one in the run. We would have liked Phillips with our next pick. Oh well.

Round: 4
(37) New York RotoRadio Edge - Brian McCann C
(38) New York The Fantasy Man - Ben Zobrist 2B
(39) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Victor Martinez C
(40) Seattle FB with Andrea - Adam Lind LF
(41) Houston Baseball Paul - Ichiro Suzuki RF
** (42) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Jayson Werth RF
(43) Chicago Fighting Chance - Johan Santana SP
(44) Texas Johnny Archive - B.J. Upton CF
(45) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - CC Sabathia SP
(46) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Justin Morneau 1B
(47) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Andre Ethier RF
(48) Arizona FB Tonight - Kendry Morales 1B

Werth was perfect for our strategy. We targeted him here and got him, though we would have taken Zobrist, had he fallen.

Round: 5
(49) Arizona FB Tonight - Jonathan Broxton RP
(50) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Dan Haren SP
(51) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Nelson Cruz RF
(52) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Jason Bay LF
(53) Texas Johnny Archive - Carlos Lee LF
(54) Chicago Fighting Chance - Mariano Rivera RP
** (55) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Curtis Granderson CF
(56) Houston Baseball Paul - Nick Markakis RF
(57) Seattle FB with Andrea - Billy Butler 1B
(58) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Justin Verlander SP
(59) New York The Fantasy Man - Jon Lester SP
(60) New York RotoRadio Edge - Joakim Soria RP

Cruz and Granderson fit right into our strategy, and we ended up with Granderson. With the first two closers off the board, we start thinking about saves.

Round: 6
(61) New York RotoRadio Edge - Jonathan Papelbon RP
(62) New York The Fantasy Man - Shin-Soo Choo RF
(63) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Adam Dunn 1B
(64) Seattle FB with Andrea - Adam Wainwright SP
(65) Houston Baseball Paul - Matt Wieters C
** (66) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Chris Carpenter SP
(67) Chicago Fighting Chance - Francisco Rodriguez RP
(68) Texas Johnny Archive - Tommy Hanson SP
(69) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Andrew McCutchen CF
(70) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Brian Roberts 2B
(71) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Josh Hamilton CF
(72) Arizona FB Tonight - Aaron Hill 2B

More closers fly off the board, but we see a chance at more elite ERA/WHIP numbers, so we grab Carpenter. Roberts and his bad back was taken at quite a discount, and Hill was a nice grab here. We decide to wait for Uggla. We can't stand Hamilton. He's just too risky this early.

Round: 7
(73) Arizona FB Tonight - Yovani Gallardo SP
(74) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Josh Beckett SP
(75) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Shane Victorino CF
(76) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Derrek Lee 1B
(77) Texas Johnny Archive - Carlos Gonzalez LF
(78) Chicago Fighting Chance - Manny Ramirez LF
** (79) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Adam Jones CF
(80) Houston Baseball Paul - Andrew Bailey RP
(81) Seattle FB with Andrea - Josh Johnson SP
(82) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Michael Young 3B
(83) New York The Fantasy Man - Carlos Pena 1B
(84) New York RotoRadio Edge - Hunter Pence RF

Here's where many teams focus on ace SPs, which allows us to focus on other positions, after already having drafted Lincecum and Carpenter. Jones offers a nice power/speed combo with upside, so he's our choice here. Surprisingly, we lose our Carlos Pena target early.

Round: 8
(85) New York RotoRadio Edge - Aramis Ramirez 3B
(86) New York The Fantasy Man - Carlos Quentin LF
(87) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Matt Cain SP
(88) Seattle FB with Andrea - Jay Bruce RF
(89) Houston Baseball Paul - Gordon Beckham 3B
** (90) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Brian Wilson RP
(91) Chicago Fighting Chance - Cole Hamels SP
(92) Texas Johnny Archive - Ubaldo Jimenez SP
(93) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Jose Lopez 2B
(94) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Ricky Nolasco SP
(95) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Bobby Abreu RF
(96) Arizona FB Tonight - Alex Rios CF

We like Beckham here, and Alex Rios would have worked for us, but it was time to roster saves, so we went with the solid Wilson.

Round: 9
(97) Arizona FB Tonight - Cliff Lee SP
(98) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Billy Wagner RP
(99) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Juan Pierre LF
(100) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Howie Kendrick 2B
(101) Texas Johnny Archive - Jake Peavy SP
(102) Chicago Fighting Chance - Chipper Jones 3B
** (103) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Heath Bell RP
(104) Houston Baseball Paul - Jason Kubel RF
(105) Seattle FB with Andrea - Ian Stewart 2B
(106) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Torii Hunter CF
(107) New York The Fantasy Man - Chone Figgins 3B
(108) New York RotoRadio Edge - Stephen Drew SS

We wanted to end up with three quality closers, and Bell is a good ERA/WHIP guy, so we nabbed him, though he could save his last game of the season in late July if he gets traded into a set-up role on another team. Not caring about BA, Stewart would have been good for our team.

Round: 10
(109) New York RotoRadio Edge - Denard Span CF
(110) New York The Fantasy Man - Clayton Kershaw SP
(111) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Nate McLouth CF
(112) Seattle FB with Andrea - Wandy Rodriguez SP
(113) Houston Baseball Paul - Rajai Davis CF
** (114) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Elvis Andrus SS
(115) Chicago Fighting Chance - Alfonso Soriano LF
(116) Texas Johnny Archive - Francisco Cordero RP
(117) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Lance Berkman 1B
(118) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Michael Cuddyer 1B
(119) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Michael Bourn CF
(120) Arizona FB Tonight - Jason Bartlett SS

It was time to get our speedy MI, and Andrus offers an upside of 40+ SB, so he was the obvious choice. Cuddyer was another good 1B choice that we missed out on, unfortunately. Round 10 is a nice place to nab Kershaw, so kudos to the Fantasy Man there.

Round: 11
(121) Arizona FB Tonight - Jason Heyward RF
(122) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Chad Qualls RP
(123) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Brett Anderson SP
(124) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Alexei Ramirez SS
(125) Texas Johnny Archive - Javier Vazquez SP
(126) Chicago Fighting Chance - Matt Garza SP
** (127) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Scott Baker SP
(128) Houston Baseball Paul - Chris Davis 1B
(129) Seattle FB with Andrea - Julio Borbon LF
(130) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Jose Valverde RP
(131) New York The Fantasy Man - Carlos Beltran CF
(132) New York RotoRadio Edge - Franklin Gutierrez CF

With most of the top pitchers off the board, we saw a chance at another one that could offer a decent WHIP, so we took him. We couldn't believe Davis went there, as he would have been our next pick.

Round: 12
(133) New York RotoRadio Edge - Jair Jurrjens SP
(134) New York The Fantasy Man - Nyjer Morgan LF
(135) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Adrian Beltre 3B
(136) Seattle FB with Andrea - Asdrubal Cabrera 2B
(137) Houston Baseball Paul - Chad Billingsley SP
** (138) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Dan Uggla 2B
(139) Chicago Fighting Chance - Dexter Fowler CF
(140) Texas Johnny Archive - Erick Aybar SS
(141) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - James Shields SP
(142) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Yunel Escobar SS
(143) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Rickie Weeks 2B
(144) Arizona FB Tonight - Huston Street RP

It was the right time for Uggla, so he was our obvious choice here. Weeks could have also worked within our strategy. For those who actually care about BA, Cabrera and Escobar were good MI picks here.

Round: 13
(145) Arizona FB Tonight - Rafael Soriano RP
(146) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Adam LaRoche 1B
(147) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Kevin Slowey SP
(148) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Jonathan Sanchez SP
(149) Texas Johnny Archive - Carlos Marmol RP
(150) Chicago Fighting Chance - Alcides Escobar SS
** (151) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Trevor Hoffman RP
(152) Houston Baseball Paul - Frank Francisco RP
(153) Seattle FB with Andrea - Ryan Ludwick RF
(154) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Brian Fuentes RP
(155) New York The Fantasy Man - A.J. Burnett SP
(156) New York RotoRadio Edge - Chris Coghlan LF

We continue to whiff on 1B picks, as LaRoche goes, but we like Hoffman with his potentially low ERA/WHIP combo as our third closer. Ludwick was a nice pick in this round, and we would have been interested in Alcides, had we not taken Andrus earlier.

Round: 14
(157) New York RotoRadio Edge - Vladimir Guerrero DH
(158) New York The Fantasy Man - John Lackey SP
(159) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Ryan Doumit C
(160) Seattle FB with Andrea - Bobby Jenks RP
(161) Houston Baseball Paul - Max Scherzer SP
** (162) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Miguel Montero C
(163) Chicago Fighting Chance - Geovany Soto C
(164) Texas Johnny Archive - Drew Stubbs CF
(165) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Kurt Suzuki C
(166) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Ryan Dempster SP
(167) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Jorge Posada C
(168) Arizona FB Tonight - Jorge De La Rosa SP

After Doumit went, we couldn't believe that Montero was still sitting there, so we pounced on him, and it was a good thing, seeing the catchers that went right after him. We don't like Posada in this league, given his age, as he could very well be hurt or given extra rest during the Mic Wars finals.

Round: 15
(169) Arizona FB Tonight - Brian Matusz SP
(170) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Gavin Floyd SP
(171) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Mike Gonzalez RP
(172) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Jered Weaver SP
(173) Texas Johnny Archive - Matt Lindstrom RP
(174) Chicago Fighting Chance - Ryan Franklin RP
** (175) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Mike Napoli C
(176) Houston Baseball Paul - Francisco Liriano SP
(177) Seattle FB with Andrea - David Aardsma RP
(178) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Jorge Cantu 3B
(179) New York The Fantasy Man - Roy Oswalt SP
(180) New York RotoRadio Edge - Brandon Webb SP

The closer cupboard is just about bare now, and several teams are starting to fill out their starting rotations. We go with Napoli as another catcher that could give us 20 bombs. We liked Cantu, another 1B/3B that we lost.

Round: 16
(181) New York RotoRadio Edge - Johnny Damon LF
(182) New York The Fantasy Man - David Price SP
(183) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Martin Prado 2B
(184) Seattle FB with Andrea - Tim Hudson SP
(185) Houston Baseball Paul - Everth Cabrera SS
** (186) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Paul Konerko 1B
(187) Chicago Fighting Chance - Rich Harden SP
(188) Texas Johnny Archive - Russell Martin C
(189) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Corey Hart RF
(190) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Chris Iannetta C
(191) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Raul Ibanez LF
(192) Arizona FB Tonight - Yadier Molina C

It was finally time for us to get our 1B, and we felt Konerko was tops on the board for his HR potential.

Round: 17
(193) Arizona FB Tonight - Garrett Jones 1B
(194) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - James Loney 1B
(195) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Nick Johnson 1B
(196) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Brad Lidge RP
(197) Texas Johnny Archive - Casey McGehee 2B
(198) Chicago Fighting Chance - Colby Rasmus CF
** (199) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Nick Swisher 1B
(200) Houston Baseball Paul - Matt Capps RP
(201) Seattle FB with Andrea - Jeff Clement C
(202) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Cody Ross CF
(203) New York The Fantasy Man - Rick Porcello SP
(204) New York RotoRadio Edge - Nolan Reimold LF

It was interesting to see Jones, Loney, and Johnson go soon after our Konerko pick. Therefore, we went with Swisher to back-up Konerko. Not caring about his BA, we love his power in NY.

Round: 18
(205) New York RotoRadio Edge - Placido Polanco 2B
(206) New York The Fantasy Man - Chris Young CF
(207) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Ryan Theriot SS
(208) Seattle FB with Andrea - Lastings Milledge LF
(209) Houston Baseball Paul - Hideki Matsui DH
** (210) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Ted Lilly SP
(211) Chicago Fighting Chance - Clay Buchholz SP
(212) Texas Johnny Archive - David Ortiz DH
(213) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Octavio Dotel RP
(214) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Kyle Blanks RF
(215) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Stephen Strasburg SP
(216) Arizona FB Tonight - Marco Scutaro SS

Aaargh, there went Chris Young, perfect for our strategy. Seeing that we're actually building a rotation, we take Lilly as another potential ERA/WHIP helper. Blanks is good here, and Strasburg is a great h2h player -- just cover for him until he arrives.

Round: 19
(217) Arizona FB Tonight - Jason Frasor RP
(218) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Hiroki Kuroda SP
(219) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Leo Nunez RP
(220) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Ryan Madson RP
(221) Texas Johnny Archive - Neftali Feliz RP
(222) Chicago Fighting Chance - Matt LaPorta LF
** (223) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Brad Hawpe RF
(224) Houston Baseball Paul - Todd Helton 1B
(225) Seattle FB with Andrea - Jhonny Peralta SS
(226) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Wade Davis SP
(227) New York The Fantasy Man - Rafael Furcal SS
(228) New York RotoRadio Edge - Phil Hughes SP

Frasor and Nunez were just about the last of the closers. We felt we could use another 25-HR man, so we nabbed Hawpe. We like Hughes here.

Round: 20
(229) New York RotoRadio Edge - John Danks SP
(230) New York The Fantasy Man - Jarrod Saltalamacchia C
(231) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Maicer Izturis 2B
(232) Seattle FB with Andrea - Kevin Kouzmanoff 3B
(233) Houston Baseball Paul - Juan Rivera LF
** (234) Pittsburgh RC Radio - J.J. Hardy SS
(235) Chicago Fighting Chance - Bengie Molina C
(236) Texas Johnny Archive - Miguel Tejada SS
(237) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Chris Perez RP
(238) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Ben Sheets SP
(239) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Joe Blanton SP
(240) Arizona FB Tonight - Cameron Maybin CF

Hardy has had a great spring, and we feel he can approach 20homers, which is nice from the MI spot.

Round: 21
(241) Arizona FB Tonight - John Baker C
(242) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Kelly Johnson 2B
(243) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - A.J. Pierzynski C
(244) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Aaron Harang SP
(245) Texas Johnny Archive - Franklin Morales RP
(246) Chicago Fighting Chance - Carlos Zambrano SP
** (247) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Vernon Wells CF
(248) Houston Baseball Paul - Scott Kazmir SP
(249) Seattle FB with Andrea - Johnny Cueto SP
(250) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Daisuke Matsuzaka SP
(251) New York The Fantasy Man - Rod Barajas C
(252) New York RotoRadio Edge - J.A. Happ SP

We were thinking about Kelly Johnson. Wells is an everyday player that can approach 15/15, so we take him as our UP in Round 21. Not bad.

Round: 22
(253) New York RotoRadio Edge - Buster Posey C
(254) New York The Fantasy Man - Austin Jackson LF
(255) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Randy Wolf SP
(256) Seattle FB with Andrea - Kerry Wood RP
(257) Houston Baseball Paul - Carlos Ruiz C
** (258) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Edwin Jackson SP
(259) Chicago Fighting Chance - Brandon Wood 3B
(260) Texas Johnny Archive - Miguel Olivo C
(261) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Matt Thornton RP
(262) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Josh Willingham LF
(263) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Milton Bradley RF
(264) Arizona FB Tonight - Jon Rauch RP

We should have taken Brandon Wood, but the clock was running down, and we defaulted to Jackson. We'll pick our spots with him after Lilly returns, but he should hopefully at least give us a few good starts in April.

Round: 23
(265) Arizona FB Tonight - Jeff Niemann SP
(266) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Ramon Hernandez C
(267) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Kevin Correia SP
(268) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Ian Desmond SS
(269) Texas Johnny Archive - Garrett Atkins 3B
(270) Chicago Fighting Chance - Carlos Gomez CF
** (271) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Travis Snider LF
(272) Houston Baseball Paul - Shaun Marcum SP
(273) Seattle FB with Andrea - Jaime Garcia RP
(274) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Ryan Spilborghs LF
(275) New York The Fantasy Man - Conor Jackson LF
(276) New York RotoRadio Edge - Mark Buehrle SP

We probably should have taken a shot at Sizemore, but we decided another potential 25-HR man couldn't hurt. In hindsight, I actually might like Conor Jackson better as a 15/10 man. Oh well. It's Round 23.

Round: 24
(277) New York RotoRadio Edge - Scott Sizemore 2B
(278) New York The Fantasy Man - Clint Barmes 2B
(279) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Colby Lewis SP
(280) Seattle FB with Andrea - Kazuo Matsui 2B
(281) Houston Baseball Paul - Brandon League RP
** (282) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Mark DeRosa 3B
(283) Chicago Fighting Chance - Sean Rodriguez 2B
(284) Texas Johnny Archive - Chase Headley 3B
(285) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Casey Blake 3B
(286) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Felipe Lopez 2B
(287) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Ervin Santana SP
(288) Arizona FB Tonight - David Freese 3B

We wanted a back-up 3B, and we went with DeRosa because he can play OF too. Headley and Blake were alternate considerations. We were considering Ervin Santana, too, in case he could recapture some past form.

Round: 25
(289) Arizona FB Tonight - Brett Gardner CF
(290) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Jason Motte RP
(291) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Troy Glaus 3B
(292) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Carlos Santana C
(293) Texas Johnny Archive - Mike Aviles SS
(294) Chicago Fighting Chance - Justin Masterson SP
** (295) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Mike Adams RP
(296) Houston Baseball Paul - Erik Bedard SP
(297) Seattle FB with Andrea - Scott Podsednik LF
(298) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Akinori Iwamura 2B
(299) New York The Fantasy Man - Jeff Francoeur RF
(300) New York RotoRadio Edge - Bronson Arroyo SP

We like Gardner for late speed. With Gardner gone, we went with Adams and his stellar ERA/WHIP. Plus, he could take over if Bell gets dealt.

Round: 26
(301) New York RotoRadio Edge - Scott Feldman SP
(302) New York The Fantasy Man - Chris Young SP
(303) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Marlon Byrd CF
(304) Seattle FB with Andrea - Joel Pineiro SP
(305) Houston Baseball Paul - Luis Valbuena 2B
** (306) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Luke Gregerson RP
(307) Chicago Fighting Chance - Alex Gordon 3B
(308) Texas Johnny Archive - Coco Crisp CF
(309) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Adam Moore C
(310) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Ian Kennedy SP
(311) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - J.D. Drew RF
(312) Arizona FB Tonight - Matt Guerrier RP

Speaking of taking over when Bell gets dealt, Gregerson will be the man, if not Adams. We like J.D. Drew this late.

Round: 27
(313) Arizona FB Tonight - Michael Brantley CF
(314) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Andy Pettitte SP
(315) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Jason Hammel SP
(316) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Joba Chamberlain SP
(317) Texas Johnny Archive - J.R. Towles C
(318) Chicago Fighting Chance - Blake DeWitt 3B
** (319) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Orlando Hudson 2B
(320) Houston Baseball Paul - Trevor Cahill SP
(321) Seattle FB with Andrea - Will Venable RF
(322) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Barry Zito SP
(323) New York The Fantasy Man - Homer Bailey SP
(324) New York RotoRadio Edge - Mat Latos SP

We needed a back-up 2B and decided it was Hudson time in Round 27. It was simply a depth choice. Latos could end up being the best pick in this round.

Round: 28
(325) New York RotoRadio Edge - Magglio Ordonez RF
(326) New York The Fantasy Man - Fausto Carmona SP
(327) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Chris Tillman SP
(328) Seattle FB with Andrea - Ivan Rodriguez C
(329) Houston Baseball Paul - Delmon Young LF
** (330) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Daniel Bard RP
(331) Chicago Fighting Chance - Madison Bumgarner RP
(332) Texas Johnny Archive - Brad Ziegler RP
(333) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - David DeJesus LF
(334) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Clayton Richard SP
(335) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Derek Lowe SP
(336) Arizona FB Tonight - Cliff Pennington SS

Magglio is nice this late, if you want batting average. Carmona is looking great this spring and is worth a shot here. Richard could be good in his PETCO starts.

Round: 29
(337) Arizona FB Tonight - Chris Dickerson LF
(338) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Orlando Cabrera SS
(339) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Marc Rzepczynski SP
(340) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Desmond Jennings LF
(341) Texas Johnny Archive - Scott Downs RP
(342) Chicago Fighting Chance - Seth Smith LF
** (343) Pittsburgh RC Radio - John Maine SP
(344) Houston Baseball Paul - Edwin Encarnacion 3B
(345) Seattle FB with Andrea - Kenshin Kawakami SP
(346) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Jason Kendall C
(347) New York The Fantasy Man - Mike Pelfrey SP
(348) New York RotoRadio Edge - Takashi Saito RP

Maine is simply a pitcher we hope we can use in his home starts. We'll see. We had considered Encarnacion as a reserve corner with upside.

Round: 30
(349) New York RotoRadio Edge - Melky Cabrera CF
(350) New York The Fantasy Man - Max Ramirez C
(351) Kansas City FantasyFace-Off - Aubrey Huff 1B
(352) Seattle FB with Andrea - Brandon Lyon RP
(353) Houston Baseball Paul - Brandon Morrow SP
** (354) Pittsburgh RC Radio - Travis Hafner DH
(355) Chicago Fighting Chance - Alberto Callaspo 2B
(356) Texas Johnny Archive - Vicente Padilla SP
(357) Fanball Fantasy Buffet - Brett Myers SP
(358) Baltimore MLB Breakdown - Mitch Talbot RP
(359) Philadelphia Fantasy Phenoms - Eric Young Jr. 2B
(360) Arizona FB Tonight - Fernando Rodney RP

We'll cut Hafner soon, I'm sure, but he could provide cheap pop at the UP spot.

Basically, we couldn't be happier with the way the draft went. We lost many target players (Reynolds, Dunn, C. Young ARI), but we were able to twist and turn with the draft, and we finished even better than we thought we would. Getting Lincecum and Carpenter early was huge, allowing us to keep our ERA and WHIP low, but still compete in W and K when we feel we need to. We are hopeful that this team can bring a league championship home to RotoCommunity.com.
