Buck went off a bit because the quote was that Ellsbury was a poor man's Span, but we know now that the listener meant the other way around, which is true. I think Buck's main point was that while many players can get you 20-30 steals with little power, few can get you 50+ steals, and if you get a massive power guy in the first, it's reasonable to couple him with Ellsbury in the second. True, you can get speed later from guys like Span, but you'll need two Spans to equal one Ellsbury.

I listened to your comments on Blogtalk when you belittled a guy for this comparison. Maybe Span is the poor man's Ellsbury (not the other way around). I'll wait the 140 spots and draft Span. I'm betting the SB gap will be less this year with the new ballpark (more smallball).
