Below, we explore what should happen in this week's NFL games. Of course, in the NFL, only half of what should happen actually does happen, but playing the percentages gives you the best chance of winning. Remember, think twice before benching a stud based on match-ups! We list the Vegas odds spread in parentheses and the Over/Under number in brackets.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON (3:00pm ET)

New York Jets @ Indianapolis (-8) [39]

Dear Peyton Manning,

I write this letter to you today because I need your help. I am generally a very proud man, but all I can do is beg at this point. Please dispatch of the Jets this weekend. And I think you owe me one. You are the reason I have been put through extreme agony over the last two weeks. Four weeks ago, you were on pace to dispatch of these same New York Jets and eliminate them from the playoffs.

You were in the midst of a perfect season when the 7-7 Jets came to town. The lights were bright, the crowd was rambunctious, your Colts were sitting at a perfect 14-0, and most importantly, everything was going the way it was planned. Darrelle Revis was all over Reggie Wayne like a bad case of acne. That was OK though. All the attention spent on Wayne allowed Austin Collie and Dallas Clark to run free. You'll have Pierre Garçon back for this game as well -- just another weapon to embarrass this one-man secondary with. In order to prevent this from happening, Rex Ryan will be bringin' da house all day long. Being the stoic field general that you are, don't be afraid to change to a run play every now and then to keep the defense guessing, which should buy you the time you need for passing.

You may not have control over the defense, but you must remind them one important thing every chance you get -- stack the line. Make Mark Sanchez try and beat you. I know it seems like cliche, but you cannot sit back and let Shonn Greene and Thomas Jones bully your defense like they've been doing to everyone else the last two weeks. If the defense won't listen to you, you'll just have to put up enough points early on to force Sanchez's hand. If you can make the Mexicutioner throw more than 20 times, the game is yours.

Just because you're Peyton Manning doesn't mean should dispatch of my advice with no thought. I'm trying to help you win. It would be shameful to let the Jets win after you (well Curtis Painter, who am I kidding) presented them with the Golden Ticket that brought them here.

I am not a dying child, nor am I company paying you millions to inform the people about how your 'laser, rocket arm' will save them on long distance. But do it for me anyways. If you fail, I'm confident I'll have an aneurysm and it will be all your fault. And we both know, that's not something you want to live with.

Talk at ya later,

Patrick Mayo

IND 24, NYJ 20 (Pick: New York +8, over 39)
